The Power Station seen is a small combined heat and power plant built especially to provide power to Sellafield Nuclear Facility. The cool water supply for the Steam Turbine comes from Wastwater lake.

Wastwater is located in the beautiful Lake District of England and was the location in 1976 of the Wasdale Lady in the Lake, Margaret Hogg, who was murdered by her husband and her body was disposed of in the lake. She was found after eight years, with her body preserved like wax due to the lack of oxygen in the water.

Wasdale has many positives, one of them being the Wasdale Head Pub.

On top of the Burj Khalifa at 830 metres.

Fearnsides and Associates have been involved in many tall building constructions, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and in Hong Kong - IFC Tower 2, The Center, Tung Chung Crescent, Tung Chung Town Centre.

An interesting building is The Hopewell Tower, it is 64 storeys high, it has  no corners. The building is round, the central core and the outer core was slip formed. The basement is an 18 storey carpark, although everyone uses the so called "back entrance" on Queens Rd East . The main entrance is 18 storey's further up on Kennedy Rd.

Gordon Wu (the developer/builder) got round the height restrictions in Wan Chai, Hong Kong by naming the entrance to the Hopewell Centre on Kennedy Rd some 18 storeys higher than the bottom of the basement on Queens Rd East. The swimming pool on the roof was not allowed at the time, so it was referred to as a "water tank".

Fearnsides and Associates know a lot about deep bored piles with bell outs, grouting pile bottom voids, diaphragm walls, top down construction from their experience in Hong Kong. Some of the deepest bored piles in the world are located in Hong Kong, this is because all bored piles have to be founded on rock in Hong Kong.

Tung Chung Crescent shown was inspired by the crescent in Bath except Hong Kong's version is 42 storey's high. The development consists of a Shopping Centre, Hotel, Office, MTR Station, a Bridge over the Lantau Express Line and a Chair Lift Centre that provides chair lifts to the Big Budda 460 metres above sea level on Lantau Island.

There is a road to the Big Budda  that has, in some sections,  14% gradients, Lantau Buffalos Cycle Club cycle up it.

Fearnsides and Associates in previous guises were involved in the many MTR Stations in Hong Kong: The Ground Transportation Centre - HK Airport Station, North Point Station and Quarry Bay Link, Tung Chung MTR Station, and West Rail Tuen Mun Station.

Tung Chung is next to the Hong Kong Airport which is where the Hong  Kong to Macau/Zuhai bridge and elevated road project has been built and connects into the Lantau Expressway and then on to the Tsing Ma suspension bridge for access into Hong Kong.
